A few Sundays ago, I went and had a delish lunch with Jan, Lara and Ms. Fuller, at The Cracker Barrel and took a little detour through the parking lot of Ron Craft Chevrolet on my way home. I turned the corner and I am pretty sure I heard angels singing! There was the Tahoe I had been patiently waiting for: white exterior (have you seen the road I drive down to get home every single day!!!), black leather interior, entertainment system, sunroof and the wheels I had been searching for...it was the whole package...and it had to be mine! By Monday night it had a new home...my home!
My Acura, aka: Phoebe, found a new home the same week. She went to live with a nice family in Mont Belvieu and is being driven by a 16 year old, it was her birthday present! I wish I had an Acura, with all kinds of bells and whistles, when I turned Sweet 16! Her mom called me that week and told me she thought her daughter was going to sleep in it the first night. I remember those days!
While many of us might confess to calling our car names when they won't start or break down, some of us give our cars pet names, even petting them like the family dog and talking to them as if they were listening. All my cars have listened to me...I promise they have!
Why do I name my cars? I spend at least two hours a day in my car (100 miles round trip to work), that is a long time every week to spend in something and NOT grow attached to it! I faithfully have some sort of car scent under the seats, my drivers side seat adjusts to my liking every time I insert my key and most importantly, my radio stations are programmed!
I was kind of sad when the new family came to pick up Phoebe. I met Trent for the first time standing right outside of her doors, I made numerous trips to visit family and friends, she got me through college at Lamar, she got me home safely at 2:00 in the morning...when I should have already been home anyway and she got me through those days and nights that nothing would cure me except a long drive, with her sunroof open and the radio blarring my favorite song! Those are times and memories you just can't get back.
When I picked up the Tahoe and drove home, I looked in the rear view mirror and pictured Brooklyn quietly sleeping in her car seat. I am placing a lot of trust that this vehicle will protect me and my family. Our new family is going to drive home together for the first time in the Tahoe, Brooklyn and I are going to run errands and get groceries, we are going to take many family trips, and I am going to endlessly hear the same movie over and over and over but it won't matter when I hear her giggle for the 1000th time. We are going to make memories on those four wheels...memories that can't be replaced!
The pressure is on...the pressure of a name! Help me...any suggestions?!

I don't get on Blogspot often, and just saw the post about your car. I'm thinking people will get out of your way because they think the county sheriff is behind them!
Heard you had quite a crowd at the baby shower yesterday. Getting close!
