Yes, I said PERKS of pregnancy...who knew...right?! I have been told many times over that my pregnancy will be one of the most memorable experiences of my life. There have been so many PERKS over the past 9 months that it is hard to just name a few. Hopefully, I will have the opportunity to share all these great memories with Brooklyn, one day.
- The foot rubs! Nothing like a handful of Pretzel M&M's and a foot rub! I am actually enjoying both right this minute! Aaaahhhh....don't be jealous.
- "Laughter is the shortest distance between two people" or is it "A baby bump is the shortest distance between two people" My belly has been an instant ice breaker over the past couple of weeks. I have heard, "Oh, honey, you are going through the hottest part of the year" (really...you're telling me?!?!) about 50,000 times recently. Most of the time my space is invaded by a hand rubbing my belly, like I am a genie lamp ready to give out three free wishes. I have even practiced my Pillsbury Dough Boy giggle on a few ladies. Thankfully, Brooklyn didn't make her presence known for a while so this has been a short lived but fun perk of pregnancy, I am typically a "hands-off-kinda girl"...I like MY space :)
- Hearing Trent call her by name...music to this momma's ears. I think I have caught my eyes watering a few times when I hear him talking about her, referring to life with her and those daily belly kisses when he tells her how much he loves her. Mark my word...Trent is going to hog Brooklyn. I think I am going to have to pry her out of his arms to get a little time with her. I believe she is already wrapped around that pinkie finger. I am blessed to call him mine :)
- Tiny everything: clothes, hangers, diapers, lace, ruffles, dainty little bloomers and my favorite...BOWS! Oh and the SHOES!
- The tummy kicks and the occasional foot in my ribs. I absolutely love watching my belly! It still boggles my mind that God has seen fit to bless ME with the GIFT of a new life. Wow! This really should be number one on my list of perks. Not everyone is blessed with being able to carry a child and he chose me to be her shelter and place of comfort for the past 9 months. There is something to be said about carrying a new life created by two people and it has truly been a life changing experince...for both of us!
- I have to admit sometimes it is hard to find the good in a carrying the extra *ahem* weight and the fact I can no longer wear my favorite clothes and shoes! But it sure makes a girl feel good when she is referred to as "beautiful", "adorable", "glowing" and "cute". The PERKS just don't get much better than that!
- Four Generations! I absolutely cannot wait until I get to take a picture with my Mom, Grannie Moms, Kalina and Brooklyn! Having four generations all together in one picture does not happen very often. It will be something to cherish...for sure!
- Love from all our family and friends! People get excited about wedding and seeing two people fall in love but it is NOTHING like the excitement a baby brings. We have been incrediably blessed with all the love and gifts from everyone around us. This has been a PERK for sure!
I know no matter how many baby books I read, nothing can prepare me for the moment that I place my eyes on OUR baby girl, OUR own flesh and blood. I just can't fathom what my emotions will be like at that very second that I hear her first cry. That will defintely be a PERK in life.
A lady in line at the grocery store the other day said something to me that I won't ever forget. She said, "Your baby will come, and when your eyes meet, it will be magical, a true blessing from God. Until then, enjoy these moments, when your baby is one with you." Wow...how true is that.
